Chinese assassin was founded by Peter lee aka DJ P-Lee and Ringo Lee aka Johnny Ringo about five years ago. Our family moved to South Florida where we got involved with the music here. We originally came from Jamaica where we owned and played sounds for many years before migrating to the U.S. Our other brother Bobby Chin from Black Chiney was the first to make a big impact on the dancehall. He left King Earthquake from Washington D.C. joined Poison Dart, and then Supa Dups and he formed the now ever popular Black Chiney.

With Black Chiney getting popular with their cd’s and style of play, it was only a matter of time before Peter and myself got involved. We started to create our own unique style of re-mixes, blending Reggae with Hip-Hop. Our mix CD’s got very popular in Florida, and then started to spread all over the U.S. With the help of the “bootleggers” the CD’s was in high demand everywhere, the Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, the Caribbean, even as far as Europe and Asia.

 

As the Mix CD’s got popular, we began to add more mix CD’s to our catalogue. Chinese Assassin presented Enter the Dragon series, Fist of Fury series, and Return of the Dragon series which were all in high demand and lead to Chinese Assassin taking our show on the road. Dancehall promoters started booking us for shows as they wanted to see who was making all these hot CD’s and re-mixes!

 

It was difficult at first, because we could not find good selectors to deliver the same impact as the cd. Eventually both Peter and I had to take over; going from state to state we began to make a name in dancehall. We were always under pressure to deliver the same vibes our brother sound Black Chiney was providing. We have now come into our own, with Peter Lee (DJ P-Lee) providing the sound for all the hot re-mixes and me (Johnny Ringo) as selector we began ripping up the dancehall scene. Chinese Assassin is going to be a force to be reckoned with in the years to come. Just to mention a few places we’ve toured since hitting the road, we have been to Atlanta, Dallas, Chicago, Washington D.C., Rochester, Tampa Bay, Tallassee, Jacksonville, Arizona, and then we toured the Bahamas, Cayman Islands, The Virgin Islands, and Belize. We keep fairly active touring and hopefully we will be able to carry our remixes and vibes to many other countries.
We are continually working on new projects; and have goals that we have set out to achieve and with the help of God, and our FANS we will accomplish them all. Our website is a first step in getting and keeping in contact with everyone and will also allow our fans to buy or download our mix CD’s.
